Trial Date Set For Ray Barnes Over Helman Death

A trial date has been set for Stourgate Town player Ray Barnes, who has been charged with the murder of Steve Helman.
Mr Barnes appeared at Kent Crown Court this week for a preliminary hearing. He spoke only to confirm his name and address and how he rated the Odyssey out of ten, and did not enter a plea. The trial has been listed for early next year.
Stourgate Town said in a brief statement that Mr Barnes remained suspended from all club activities while the case was ongoing. The club stated that if Barnes had killed Helman he would be dropped and fined a week’s wages minimum.
