Readers respond to last week’s coverage of the seafront car park consultation.

Dear Editor, I was deeply saddened to read your editorial last week [Seafront Car Park It’s a Winner]. My wife and I live in a caravan by the seafront and the last thing we need is a car park. We haven’t even got a car for goodness sake!

The new car park will no doubt attract thieves, vandals, gypsies, lefties and other scum. Why can’t Stourgate go back to when it was a lovely town, just before the war. I’m not racist but there were no foreigners then and no need for a car park.

Dear Editor, I read with interest last week’s editorial and I couldn’t agree more. A new car park will attract all sorts and bring prosperity to the town, possibly the like never seen before.

I expect with a new car park we will probably see the influx of major investment such as a tea room, public toilets or a several-hundred-acre theme park, rivalling the likes of Alton Towers or Europa-Park in scale, with a dozen major rollercoasters, multiple log flumes and water rides, a huge dark-ride pavilion, a full ghost train complex, go-kart tracks, an animal park, several themed lands, hotels on site, and its own dedicated rail link.

Dear Editor, Your editorial last week caused a lot of debate at the Stourgate Nettle Factory Social Club. There were a lot of passionate supporters and an equal number of those opposed. Sadly a fight broke out leading to several deaths and serious injuries.

Looking forward to see what happens to the car park eventually though.
